Your Worth is Found in Jesus Alone

And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10)

How do you know your worth? Do you measure your worth by the amount of success you achieved? Is it by a long properous growing career? Or do you measure your worth by how physically attractive you are? Whatever measuring stick you use to assess your worth whether it is a career, an education, or an attraction stick, always know any foundation or belief not found in Christ will never last.

To be found worthy is to be found unblemished, clean, and untarnished from all manners of wickedness. Mankind bears a grave blemish on our record. Through the sin of Adam, we all have been born into sin, and have adopted the sin nature. “12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin,and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—” (Romans 5:12) The sin nature is apart of who we are, it is apart of our flesh, and without the help of our parents or teaching of teachers. We naturally, and effortlessly sin. No one has to teach us how to lie, how to complain and or become envious, or to lust after people, it is in us. And whatever we choose to measure ourselves by will crumble because unworthy people cannot find or achieve worth in and of ourselves.

This is why we are not worthy, because we’re incomplete, broken, and we all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But thank be to God for sending Jesus Christ to restore us, to purity us, to redeem us! The Book of Revelation is a book of joy because it is about the second coming of our Messiah, who is “worthy!” He was the who took the scroll, breaking its seals, and “with his [your] blood you purchased for God’s persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.” Jesus did that! He saw us and loved us though we were unworthy; He did not leave us. He purchased us by His precious blood that made us white as snow. So whenever you start to doubt your worth, remember you are worthy, and have been given an irreplacable, unshakeable worth in Jesus. How wonderful is it to know no matter what measuring stick is stacked against us, none can measure the immeasurable worth you have in Christ. Amen!

Think About It

  1. How do you measure your worth? Do you think your worth is found in a relationship, in your spouse or girlfriend or boyfriend? Explain your answer.
  2. What are circumstances in your life, situations you come across, or people that have caused you to question or doubt your worth? Explain what happen?
  3. Why should you never doubt your worth? (Read Romans 8:31-40)

Dear Lord God thank you so much for sending Jesus, our Savior, who by His death, burial, and resurrection. I am made pure and clean by His precious blood. Lord give me desire to see myself not through my eyes, but through yours. Help me not to count what I am not against myself, but what I am by your Son, Jesus. For I am redeemed, made whole, and complete. Thank you Jesus and in Christ name Amen.
