Jesus, Fill Me Up!

Whenever I feel exacerbated, empty, weary, or not ready for tomorrow I think about what have I been depositing into my spirit lately. Have I been making godly deposits?

Godly deposits are heavenly exchanges from the Lord God; they keep the spirit sustained and nourished. The world depletes Christians of their spiritual energy, strength, and wisdom. Confronting day to day events, human strength is limited and we cannot sustain the same intensity to complete each task successfully. But what an everlasting oasis and supplier we have in Jesus Christ!

As it is written, “28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’[a] As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’(Acts 17:28)

The world was made through Jesus Christ and in Jesus all life is held together. The same principle applies to Christians living in Christ. Jesus is the overflowing wellspring; we can count in times of weakness. You see Jesus rescues us from weariness, doubt, discouragement. On the Cross, He did more than pay our transgressions, in exchange for our sinful lives Jesus gave us new ones. New, righteous lives that come with permanent and eternal benefits. These benefits are apart of the abundant life. A life any saint can experience as we abide daily in Jesus Christ.

 Jesus gives peace.

Jesus gives joy.

Jesus gives strength.

He is the living water, and the spirit to overcome all things and all the manners of this world. These fruits of the spirit are found in the Word of God. For it is written, “2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” (Psalms 1:2-3)

It is our new spirit sustaining us, the spirit is feeds on God’s Word when not only we memorize it but meditate on it. In Christian faith, meditation is not a sixth sense, a higher level of spiritual elevation or clearing one’s mind and releasing negative energy. No this is heresy, mediating means to “ponder, contemplate, and to completely commit one’s self to the act of thinking” about the Word of God, and the Lord. We find delight in God’s Word. His law brings delight because through meditation the Holy Spirit reveals truths about God and His love toward us.

We learn about our relationship and this continual mediation, day and night continuously. God’s Word cleanses, restores, and refreshes our mind. We are seeds. Jesus knows we’re not self sustaining creations. So, He plants us by streams of water which is His Word. There is no excuse as to why us Christians cannot spend time with the Lord, especially in America. We make time for the people and things we love, so it is time to show God we love Him. Reading God’s Word is good for Christians, because we need the Word of God to survive. When our roots, our hearts, and our thoughts are planted firmly in His Word we thrive even in times of drought. Whether if it is severe heat or terrible winds, the leaves we produce will never wither or perish.

So, you see if you’re drained or emptied fill up on the Word of God it is food of the spirit, nourishment of our souls. For “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
